Eurokleis has successfully participated in the SEQUOIA study, commissioned by DG Information Society of the European Commission, in order to develop a socio-economic self-assesment methodology to evaluate the potentiality of 25 research projects.

With reference to the objectives set by the European Union within the Lisbon strategy, the future of the Internet will become increasingly an essential part of future European ICT infrastructure and will be an important vehicle for promoting the internationalisation of markets and the development of productivity and employment in Europe.

The "Internet of Services" and "Software as a Service" (SaaS) infrastructures will be the key drivers of changing for the future of the Internet.

Within this context, the SEQUOIA project, aims to maximise the impact of research projects based on infrastructure like SaaS and IoS, through a specific socio-economic methodology.

A further objective of the study is to support the transfer fo the project's results to SMEs.

Subsequently, new projects wishing to participate in the initiative, have the opportunity to self-assess their potential impact and their socio-economic benefits.

The SEQUOIA research study was initiated in the second year of the 25 participating projects, to support them in their full maturity stage and to make the first results available to SMEs.
